Impact of environmental degradation on biodiversity conservation in Nigeria

Biodiversity is critical for sustainability but it being increasingly threatened by anthropogenic activities, such as abitats’ degradation through deforestation, unsustainable shifting cultivation and draining of wetlands; well industrialisation overexploitation flora fauna which includes fishing, excessive consumption fuel wood overharvesting medicinal plants. Human modification the ecosystems does not only lead to biodiversity loss can also cause a continuous shift in earth’s ecological equilibrium, resulting environmental stress. Notably, United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15) aimed at averting this impending crisis. This article examines impact conservation on Nigeria espouses suggestions towards attainment sustainable development goals.
